$151,000 COLLECTED IN BAZAAR
![]() A total of $151,000 was colledted from the Ratu Kadavulevu School bazaar held in Suva yesterday, exceeding their target of $120,000, said Ratu Kadavulevu School Old Boys Association secretary Samuela Vadei. Mr Vadei said despite of the wet weather condition, hundreds of supporters including old scholars, students, parents and business bodies, turned up at the Sukuna Park to contribute to the school chapel fundraising. Prime Minster Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama who is also old scholar and a former Degei House member joined his colleagues at the park before going to Natadola to officiate at the opening of the five star resort. Mr Vadei said the event, organized by the old scholars, proved to be a success. “This bazaar was just planned in February and we are so glad that we have exceeded our target,”Mr Vadei said. “The support shown by the old scholars, parents and other parties involved was so great and without them we wouldn’t be able to collect this much money today (yesterday).” Mr Vadei revealed that a total of $300,000 was needed to complete the school chapel and they aimed at achieving the amount before the end of the next year. He said other fundraising activities had been planned for every school holidays as a mean of achieving the targeted amount. While the bazaar was aimed for fundraising. Mr Vadei said it was also a great opportunity for old scholars to catch up. “Old scholars from all over the country are here. We have those from the north, west and other outer islands getting together on this particular day for this worthy course. “Most of us have not seen each other for a very long time so this event came as a perfect occasion to meet,” Mr Vadei said.
