PRISONS SCOOPED SPECIAL AWARDS
award of 2008 psc special award
On Friday, 5th December, 2008 the Fiji Civil Service held its annual Service Excellence Awards at the Tradewinds Convention Centre.

The Fiji Prisons and Corrections Service scooped up three (3) of the eight (8) awards available for the night. These included the:-

(a) Achievement Award for Mrs. Annudh Singh, for excellence in her 30 years of Service in the department.

(b) The Civil Service Excellence Award (Special Award) for the year 2008 to the department.

(c) The best dressed Department for the awards night.

The Special Civil Service Excellence Award was in recognition of the Yellow Ribbon Programme that the Fiji Prisons and Corrections Service had launched in the year. The Yellow Ribbon Programme had not only taken the country by storm but also our neighboring countries that were in Fiji at the launch, for the Head of Pacific Islands Corrections Conference. These have made direct approaches for the introduction of the programme in their respective countries.

While the special award was the first for the FPCS, we believe that it is in general recognition of the effort of the Department, thus for neglected due to the negative stigma associated with the Departments live of work.

With a number of initiatives being mapped out by the Department, we believe that this award is only the beginning of new things. The new year should see new initiatives and a new minds for the Department with high hopes and expectations.

Over 1000 Civil Servants attended the award night.
