FORMER PS SEEKS FORGIVENESS
Peniasi Kunatuba publicly apologises for his part in the agriculture scam.FORMER Agriculture Ministry permanent secretary Peniasi Kunatuba, who was jailed for four years for his part in the agriculture scam, yesterday sought forgiveness from the civil service. Mr Kunatuba did the same from family members and church at the launch of the Yellow Ribbon Project at Sukuna Park in Suva yesterday. "I am seeking forgiveness from the agriculture department and my family members for spoiling the name of the family," Mr Kunatuba said. He said the YRP was a good initiative and this gave an opportunity for the prisoners to seek forgiveness. "We seek the support from the society," he said. Mr Kunatuba said his family was supportive of him. He said the YRP was an awareness campaign for the whole community to accept prisoners who had served their terms. The 55-year-old, father of four thanked the Prisons Department and interim Government for implementing the program. Mr Kunatuba was jailed for four years by the High Court in November 2006. |
