15 INMATES FOCUS ON CHARACTER BUILDING
Participants of the Character First workshop after being awarded their certificates. Fifteen inmates from the Suva Corrections Center today received certificates after successfully completing a three-week workshop on Character First. Facilitated by the Prison Fellowship, the course focused mainly on building up the character of a person. A lot of teachings during the course were based from the Bible on how to mould the character of an individual to become a better citizen of the country. The course is phase 2 of the rehabilitation framework which basically focuses on addressing the offending behavior of inmates. Inmate Pita Tokoniyaroi said he was grateful to be part of the programme as it gave him a lot of confidence. “It helped me to relook at myself, to identify my weaknesses and how I can improve on them,” he said. He added he would strive to become a better person and put to good use what he has learnt. www.corrections.org.fj |
