Background Information
Taveuni Prison was established in 1994 mainly to cater for prisoners from Taveuni and the nearby islands sentence to prison for not more then 6 months sentence. It is situated at Waiyevo in the island of Taveuni province of Cakaudrove.
Taveuni Prison is an unclassified Prison and accommodates both convicted and unconvicted prisoners. Prisoner’s employment includes root crops and vegetable farming, upkeep of prison compound, and other government stations.
Rehabilitation programs are mainly focused on Counseling Programs and Agriculture Courses.
