MANAGERIAL TEAM

COMMISSIONER - LIEUTENANT COLONEL IFEREIMI VASU GSM, CM, MSD, P.DIP STRAT.STU
 


Lt. Col 91281 Ifereimi Vasu was appointed Commissioner of the Fiji Corrections Service on 28 January 2011. His appointment was made by His Excellency the President, on the advice of the Prime Minister. He is the overall commander of FCS and is responsible for 
the organisation and administration of the Fiji Corrections Service, its deployment and the control of its operations. In addition, he is responsible for the provision of safe and secure and humane management of persons in custody by providing opportunities to correct offending behavior, develop work and life skills and provide quality custodial services. 


DEPUTY COMMISSIONER - PENIASI KUNATUBA










In his position as Deputy Commissioner, Mr Kunatuba oversees the Administration of the Service, Operations, Finance, Logistics, Capital Projects and Budget among others. The veteran civil servant also currently holds the post of Director, Corporate Services and oversees the Human Resource aspect of the 600-strong men and women of the Service. Directly reporting to the Commissioner of Corrections, he is also a key advisor to the Commissioner on relevant policy issues. 



ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER OF CORRECTIONS (OPERATIONS) - T/SUPERINTENDENT KAMELI RATUVAKALEVULEVU

Mr Ratuvakalevulevu was recently appointed to the post and is responsible for the overall provision of the safe, secure and humane management of offenders in custody at all our 12 institutions. This is done by monitoring the implementation of policies and procedures relating to the safe custody and welfare of inmates. He also ensures that all operational orders and directives are carried out promptly and effectively throughout the ranks and that the security of all institutions are maintained at all times. The ACCO is directly responsible to the Commissioner of Corrections. 


DIRECTOR REHABILITATION - T/SUPERINTENDENT VILIAME BULEWA

Mr Bulewa was appointed Director Rehabilitation on the 6th February, 2012 after previously holding the post of Officer-in-charge at the Suva Corrections Centre. He is responsible for overseeing the adoption of effective, efficient and innovative rehabilitation  programmes for all inmates who are sentenced for imprisonment within the 12 Corrections institutions around the country. 


SUPERVISOR CENTRAL EASTERN DIVISION - T/SUPERINTENDENT APIMELEKI TAUKEI

Mr Taukei was appointed in August 2012 to the post of Supervisor in the Central, Eastern division. He directly supervises four institutions - Suva, Levuka, Nasinu and Womens' Correction Centres.



SUPERVISOR SOUTHERN DIVISION - t/SUPERINTENDENT SAKIUSA VEIWILI


Mr. Veiwili was appointed Supervisor Southern Division on August 8, 2011. He directly supervises and manages the four Correction centres in his division - Maximum, Medium, Minimum Corrections and the Pre-release Centre. He has twenty four (24) years of experience with the department and has a sound knowledge of both prison administration and operations. 



SUPERVISOR NORTHERN DIVISION - t/SUPERINTENDENT PENISONI TUAPATI 

Mr Tuapati took over as Supervisor North on the 23rd of February, 2012. Being directly responsible to the Commissioner of Corrections, he oversees the daily administration, operations and management of the Labasa and Taveuni Correction Centres. He previously held the position of Officer-in-Charge at the Maximum Corrections Centre.



SUPERVISOR WESTERN DIVISION - t/SUPERINTENDENT OLIVER FISHER

Mr Fisher is directly responsible to the Commissioner of Corrections and oversees the daily administration, operations and management of the Lautoka and Ba Correction Centres. He previously held the position of Staff Officer Reseach and Planning.



bUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER -SUPERINTENDENT SALOTE PANAPASA

Panapasa












Mrs Panapasa was recently appointed Business Development Manager and is responsible for the overall management of the department's commercial arm. This position was identified in 2009 to boost and strengthen the department's corporate services. The career Corrections officer who created history by becoming the first female divisional Superintendent carries with her years of experience. She holds a Postgraduate Certificate in HR from USP and an International Diploma in Tertiary Teaching from FNU. She is currently doing her MBA at USP.
